Carb conversion on the Fox? That's.... interesting.

Lot easier to get power out of the motor that way.

I know!
![]() 06/19/2014 at 10:51 |

That means it's good right?
![]() 06/19/2014 at 10:52 |

Yea, but IIRC from my dad's fox ownership years, it was such a PITA that it was generally not recommended. I'd be very curious about who/what/when/where/why it was done if I was looking to buy that one.

Where is link for e21?
![]() 06/19/2014 at 10:52 |

For your right foot? Yes.
For your wallet? No (gas, tires, tickets..)

Photo looks good, but you're going to want to look carefully at the front and rear shock towers - structural rust can kill you. There are some good E21 buyer's guides out there - if you get to the point of going to look at it lemme know and I can send you links.

IMHO, it means you have an already rebuilt, likely raced, engine running some hillbilly engineering of dubious reliability. Bring your mechanic!

He's a smart man, he knows we'll snipe it ;)

Damn right you will and I will be sad if someone on here gets it.

This is a personal opinion so remember that. I hate learning period EFI. EFI from the 80's to mid 90's is mostly junk as far as American V8s go. The main problem is with Throttle body injection instead of port injection. The tuning was a learning process for the manufacturers as well. My opinion is either get a carb or ls motor as far as Chevy goes. Ford I'm not as familiar with.

I'm not a ford expert so I can't speak to that but if you look at camaros and firebirds I would buy one with an older or newer motor.

Lol I gotcha. So what do you think of the three cars I listed.
![]() 06/19/2014 at 11:48 |

That Bimmer is a good deal but it is GREAT that the guy but carbs on the stang.

At first glance, I'd say the BMW is probably the best bet, but find a mechanic or gearhead to bring with you for any of them.
![]() 06/19/2014 at 11:55 |

those are my top 3 options as of now. There is one 944 I haven't mentioned because the guy has yet to give me the info and price on it.
![]() 06/19/2014 at 11:56 |

are you a gearhead?
![]() 06/19/2014 at 11:58 |

I am just going to say Carburators are better than EFI IMO.
![]() 06/19/2014 at 12:02 |
|
Depends on the car but in this case, yes.
![]() 06/19/2014 at 12:03 |

I can fix a cardburator in a day or 2. Injectors better get new ones.

Hahaha, yes, but foreign cars are not my forte. You could ask CrzRsn if you see him this weekend.

What about the Fox? If this does happen, could you help with that?
![]() 06/19/2014 at 12:09 |

you also have to tune them right?

Clean/tune/change size jets.
